Conquistador Coffee

Clara and I decided to give these tofu-derived fake hot dog things a try for lunch. One bite each, and we changed our minds. This was the day after a bear wrecked the bird feeder and the compost bins, and knocked over the garbage cans, so not wanting to attract it back with smelly fake-hot-dog aroma (and just being silly) we set the remains of them on the big rock at the end of the driveway. Still there. It's been a week.

Oh well, what the hell. Now I have a blog. Here's a picture of the test patch I did, removing the faded blue anodized layer from our boat.
I had an old can of Red Devil lye I'd bought a couple years ago, on a tip that it might work. It does! Like magic! Unfortunately, I had already used up most of it as drain opener. So, all excited, I hurried into town the next day to get some more ...only to find that everybody in the three stores I went to, got all shifty and weird, and insisted that "Oh, we can't get that anymore." After searching around for more information, (A) I'm pretty sure this is more of the same bullshit about "meth labs" that requires me to register as a potential felon in order to buy decongestants, and (B) They have plenty'o'drain cleaner right there on the shelf which is sodium hydroxide... which is another name for caustic soda, which is another name for... lye. It just doesn't SAY "lye," you see. Morons.
